The Post Grid Block: Your Latest Posts, Laid Out the Way You Want

Pull your posts into a grid by a query — pick the type, count, order and category, choose the columns and what each card shows, and page through the results. It updates itself as you publish.

A wall of “latest posts” that all look the same.

You want a “latest articles” section on the home page, or a tidy grid on a landing page showing three posts from one category. The theme gives you one blog layout, take it or leave it — and bending it means a child theme, a custom query and a template file most people never touch.

The Post Grid block is that custom query, without the code. Drop it on any page, tell it which posts to pull and how the cards should look, and it renders a live grid that keeps itself up to date.

Pull posts by a query — the type, how many, the order, and a category or tag — and the grid refreshes itself every time you publish.
Set the columns per device and a fixed image ratio, so three across on desktop becomes one on a phone and every thumbnail is cropped the same.
Turn each card element on or off — image, author, date, excerpt, read-more — for a compact list or a rich card.
Page through results with numbered pages or a load-more button — plus card background, border, shadow and colours to match your theme.

Setting it up takes about a minute. Drop the Post Grid block in, pick the post type and count, set your columns, and toggle the parts of the card you want. The preview fills with your real posts as you go — no query to write, no template to edit.

See it working

Every grid below is real — each pulls this site’s own posts through a different query and card setup. Same block, three looks: a full three-column blog grid, a lean two-column strip, and one filtered to a single category.

Three columns, full cards, numbered pages. Image, date, excerpt and a read-more button on each — the classic blog grid, paged through six at a time.

Two columns, image and title only, load more. A leaner card with the excerpt and meta turned off, and a button that reveals more posts in place instead of a page reload.

Filtered to one category, ordered A–Z. The same block pulling only posts in the Design category, sorted by title instead of date, with no pager — a fixed set for a landing page.
