The Text Block: Give Your Paragraphs a Bit of Typographic Flair

A paragraph that can carry a little design of its own — drop caps, gradient fills, outlines and soft shadows, all set from the sidebar.

Every paragraph the same shade of grey

You’re deep into a long post and it all looks the same — same size, same grey, line after flat line. The opening doesn’t read like an opening. The one sentence you actually want people to remember sits there looking like every other one. To make anything stand out, you’d normally drop into custom CSS or shove a heading in where a paragraph belongs.

The Text block is a paragraph that can carry a little design of its own — set entirely from the sidebar.

Start an article with a large drop-cap first letter
Fill the words themselves with a colour gradient
Outline a big line with a stroke so it stays crisp
Lift a line off the page with a soft text shadow

Drop the block in and start typing. From the sidebar you can switch on a drop cap, paint the fill with a gradient, add an outline or a shadow — and the preview updates as you type. No CSS, no shortcode, nothing to memorise.

See it live

Each block below is the same Text block, set a different way. The effect is baked into the paragraph itself — there’s no extra markup wrapped around it.

A large drop-cap first letter. The opening initial grows to anchor the start of an article, the way a print magazine sets it.

There’s a quiet confidence to a paragraph that opens with a big first letter. It tells the reader the piece has been set with care, and it gives the eye an obvious place to land before the sentence carries it on into the rest of the story.

Words filled with a colour gradient. The type itself is painted with the gradient — good for a lead line or a short pull-quote.

A lead line that carries the reader straight into the story.

Outlined display type. A stroke traces each letter, so a big opener stays crisp instead of turning into a heavy slab of colour.

Outlined type for a section opener

A soft shadow lifts the line. A gentle drop shadow gives the words depth, so they sit above the background instead of flat on it.
