# The Video Popup Block: A Video That Opens Big, Only When Someone Clicks

Add a YouTube, Vimeo or MP4 video that opens in a clean lightbox — from a thumbnail, a button or a text link — and only loads when a visitor actually clicks play.

## Your video is doing nothing while it sits there

You have a great product video, but dropping it on the page means one of two bad options. Embed the raw YouTube or Vimeo iframe and it loads a heavy player on every visit, whether anyone watches or not — and it drags your page speed down with it. Or you paste a plain link and hope people click away to another tab, where half of them never come back.

The Video Popup block gives that video a proper entrance. Visitors see a clean poster with a play button; when they click, the video opens in a lightbox over the page — and that is the moment it actually loads.

Opens in a lightbox over a dimmed backdrop — the video plays big and centred, and only loads when a visitor clicks, so the page itself stays light.

Pick the trigger — a poster thumbnail, a button or a quiet text link — so the same video fits a hero, a feature row or the middle of a paragraph.

Bring your own poster with an adjustable dark overlay and a play glyph — or leave it empty and let it pull the YouTube thumbnail for you.

Point it at YouTube, Vimeo or a self-hosted MP4 — one block for whatever the video happens to be hosted on.

Setting it up takes about a minute. Paste the video URL, choose the trigger, tweak the play button and the overlay in the sidebar, and the preview updates as you go — plus the usual spacing, colour and responsive controls, so it matches your design instead of fighting it. No embed code, no page-speed hit for a video nobody has clicked yet.

## See it four ways

These are live Video Popup blocks, each set up differently. Click any of them — the first three open a lightbox, and the last one plays right where it sits.

**Poster thumbnail, opens in a lightbox.** The poster is the auto-pulled YouTube thumbnail with a dark scrim and a play button; the video only loads on click.

**Button trigger.** A small play button drops into a feature row or beside a paragraph, then opens the same lightbox.

**Text-link trigger.** A quiet inline link for spots where a full poster would be too much — the play glyph sits right before the words.

**Inline mode, 4:3 frame.** Click and the poster becomes the player right where it sits — no popup, no jump. A different video, so you get a different poster too.
