# The Image Block: Photos That Line Up And Behave

Drop in a photo and it just fits — locked to the shape you chose and ready to zoom, without a single line of CSS.

## Every photo you upload is a different size

You write a post, drop in three photos, and they land at three different sizes — one tall, one wide, one small. The row looks ragged. So you crop them by hand, or open the theme’s CSS and start guessing at widths until something else shifts out of place. And adding a click-to-enlarge? That usually means yet another plugin.

The Image block handles all of that from the sidebar. Pick a photo, pick how it should look, and it holds that look on every screen.

Lock every image to the same shape — 16:9, square, whatever you choose — so rows never come out ragged.

Crop a photo into a circle, hexagon or blob right in the editor — no image software needed.

Turn on click-to-zoom and visitors open the full-size shot in a lightbox — no gallery plugin.

Add a hover zoom, a colour overlay and a caption that sits neatly on the image.

Plus the usual spacing, border and responsive controls, so it fits your layout instead of fighting it.

Setting one up takes a moment. Drop the block in, choose an image, then flip on an aspect ratio, a shape or the lightbox from the panel on the right — the preview updates as you go. No CSS, no shortcode, nothing to memorise.

## See the Image block in action

Each image below is the same block with one setting changed. Scroll through and watch what each control does.

**Aspect ratio locked to 16:9, with a hover zoom.** The photo fills a fixed frame no matter its original size, and lifts in a little closer when you point at it.

**Cropped to a circle.** The same kind of photo, masked into a shape right in the editor — no image software involved.

**Click to zoom.** Select the image to open it full-size in a lightbox, then close it and carry on reading — nothing else on the page moves.

**Overlay tint with a caption on top.** A colour wash and a line of text sit over the image, staying readable against the photo underneath.
