# The Breadcrumb Block: Show Visitors Where They Are

A navigation trail that builds itself from your site structure — pick a separator, add a home icon, and let search engines read the path too.

## A deep site, and visitors keep losing their place

Your site has real structure — sections inside sections, categories under categories. Someone lands three levels deep from a search result and has no idea where ‘here’ sits in the whole. And you’d rather not hand-code a little trail into every template just to tell them.

The Breadcrumb block drops that trail in for you. It reads the current page’s place in the site and prints the path back to the home page — a quiet row of links that tells a visitor where they are and gives them one tap back to anywhere above.

Open the trail with a home icon or your own home label

Turn on BreadcrumbList schema so search engines can show the path right under your result

Plus separate colours for links, the current page and separators, with typography, spacing and responsive controls

It takes about a minute. Drop the block near the top of a template, leave it on automatic, and it fills itself in. Prefer to spell the crumbs out by hand? Switch to manual and type them. Separator, home icon, colours — every option is a control in the sidebar, previewing as you change it.
